The event was spearheaded by Mr. Edmundo A. Veloso Jr, Vice President of SPUG and was attended by the various planners and representatives from the Local Government Units (LGUs) and the five (5) Distribution Utilities (DUs) under SPUG-Eastern Mindanao, namely, Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DANECO), Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DASURECO), Dinagat Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DIELCO), Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. Also present during the event were representatives from National Electrification Administration (NEA), Department of Energy and the Mayors of the Municipalities of Palimbang and Sen. Ninoy Aquino, Province of Sultan Kudarat.
The main objectives of the workshop were to harmonize all potential power requirements from the LGUs and DUs in order for NPC to have realistic and doable projections on the power supply and to identify areas for electrification in the missionary areas of Eastern Mindanao. As a result, NPC could come up with five year Energy and Demand Forecast and New Areas for Electrification as inputs to the Missionary Electrification Plan (MEP).
Mr. Nestor F. Flauta, Division Manager of Eastern Mindanao Operations Division, presented the 2016 performance of the power plants under SPUG-EMOD.
Mr. Salvador D. He also talked about the procedure in conducting the Competitive Selection Process for the selection of New Power Provider (NPP) in SPUG areas.
The participants from the DUs, LGUs, NEA, DOE and NPC engaged in a meaningful discussion in providing reliable service to their respective areas.
