SPUG-MQNLOD AREA GOES GREEN
By: Donnalyn M. Lavilla
The NPC-SPUG, thru its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) thrust, is continuing the National Greening Program of the government.
Initially, SPUG plans to plant several species of buffer trees outside the perimeters of its power plants. The trees will serve as noise and dust filters for the communities nearby.
However, during the kick off activity which was started in Marinduque, 2,500 Narra seedlings from MakBan Watershed were planted in the premises of Boac DPP and Maniwaya DPP by Marinduque, Quezon and Northern Luzon Division (MQNLOD) personnel.
On the said occasion, representatives from Head Office, Mr. Roy O. Paje of Corp. Communication and Romeo G. Francisco, Community Relation of SPUG took the opportunity to conduct refresher talk on Safety Awareness and Oil Spill Contingency Measure to enhance the awareness of MQNLOD personnel. While, Mr. Emmanuel R. Regondola, Section Chief of MakBan Watershed offer technical expertise for the planting and caring of trees.
NPC- SPUG management is encouraging all personnel to plant more trees to the entire island where the generating plants are located and help green the environment. This will help lessen the carbon footprints of NPC. The Greening program is currently being replicated in other SPUG power plants and facilities in joint partnership with the Watershed Department of NPC, which is the providerof the seedlings.
