ERC ISSUES CERTIFICATES OF COMPLIANCE (COCs) TO
4 SPUG POWER GENERATION FACILITIES (PGFs)
By: Ramil C. Lucero
The ERC has approved the regular COCs of SPUG’s Diesel Power Plants located at the different missionary areas in Camarines Sur, N. Samar, Bohol and Catanduanes Provinces for a period of 5 years.
A COC is necessary in compliance with the state policy mandating every person or corporation who is engaged in the generation of electricity as a generation company. As a condition for continued operations, the 2014 Revised Rules for the Issuance of COCs for Generation Companies/Facilities promulgated by ERC requires every person or corporation to secure a COC from the ERC to operate the facilities used in the generation of electricity.
Non-compliance with any of the Terms and Conditions set forth by ERC will be sufficient ground for the suspension or cancellation of these Certificates and/or fine and penalties as may be imposed by ERC.
To protect the welfare of the electricity consumers; the renewal of these COCs, which must be filed at least six months prior to the COC’s expiration, is required. The purpose of which is to ensure that generation companies are still operating, and can maintain operating for another 5 years at the environmental, financial and technical standards required by law.
