By: Demetrio M. Granada, Jr.
After the successful conduct of the CY 2017 Stakeholder's Forum for Missionary Electrification in Western Mindanao Area on 24 January 2017 at the Garden Orchid Hotel in Zamboanga City, NPC, followed it up with its Workshop on Planning and Forecasting on the next day, 25 January 2017.
The workshop focused on the power supply requirements to support the economic development of the areas and was attended by various planners from Local Government Units (LGUs) and Distribution Utilities (DUs) from Western Mindanao areas under NPC-SPUG.
The workshop objectives were as follows:
- Harmonize all incoming electrical loads from the LGUs and DUs in order for NPC to have realistic projections on the additional power supply in the area to accommodate the increasing demand and additional connections; and to sustain a stable, adequate and reliable power supply:
- Review the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) per area, if there is a need for amendment based on the projections.
- Identify areas (barangay) for electrification and determine the timeline of implementation and inclusion in the Missionary Electrification Plan (MEP).
The planners from LGUs and DUs provided data of their incoming loads and identify areas for electrification while NPC team processed the data.
The final result was the 5-year forecast that will be incorporated in the MEP.
